I am sad to see that the Borders’ bankruptcy is forcing the company to close about a third of their stores. A large number of those closings are in my home state of Texas.
The closing of their Lewisville, Texas store is particularly sad. They not only graciously hosted one of my book signings, but also hosted the Lewisville Chess Club, where I often tried to play the game, for over 14 years. They served up a great mocha, too.
The Lewisville Borders store was part of a big chain, yes. But they did not act like it.
I know progress is reducing the economic demand for big box bookstores, and such closings are inevitable. But still . . .

Well, I just finished that rewriting of Pilot Point. And I am very pleased. For this perfectionist, that is saying something.
I will now push to get it published. Wish me luck. Pray even!

Hi all. No news yet on the publishing front. But I decided to give the novel just one more going over. I’ve been rewriting it slightly.
Yes, writers, especially novelists, tend to be perfectionists who are never totally satisfied with their product. They are always searching and striving for the perfect work.
One day, I will have more sense than that. One day.

I submitted Pilot Point to a publisher yesterday. They e-mailed back the following:
Thank you for submitting your work to **** Books. Your manuscript has now been received and will be reviewed by our editors. Please know that our reviewing process is currently taking between 4 to 6 months and that we are reading now for our 2013 list.
This could take a while. 
But I fully understand that with all the submissions publishers receive and with the way the business works, it usually takes a while.
Patience is not only a virtue; it is a necessity!
